PLAYER COMPATIBILITY
A direct audio URL gives the receiving website or player access to the hosted recording, but that does not mean every environment will handle the file in exactly the same way. Playback still depends on the audio format, encoding and what the destination supports.
An audio link only gives the receiving person access to the recording. Whether it plays correctly still depends on the format and encoding that the website or application understands, so try the link there before sending it on. MP3 is the audio format accepted by the current upload policy. WAV files are often larger, while M4A and OGG can be useful in other audio workflows; WAV, M4A and OGG are not listed as accepted formats for this upload.
Media2URL does not decide which format is better for the recording, and the normal upload does not automatically convert one supported audio format into another. The same upload can also handle a WAV to link workflow only after the file passes the current upload policy and account limits; do not assume WAV is accepted by this page today.

If a WAV file is processed into an accepted output by a supported Media Processing workflow, upload that resulting file through this workflow and use the available share page or file URL. Do not assume the normal upload converts WAV into MP3.
