Temporary File Upload With an Expiring Link
A client might only need a draft until Friday, or a ZIP file might be useful for one quick download and nothing more. There is little reason to leave the same link open for months after that job is finished. Temporary File Upload lets you choose an expiry before sharing the supported file, so normal access ends after the selected period.
The file itself is still shared in its original supported format. Expiry controls how long the link remains usable, which is different from promising that every stored copy disappears at the exact moment the link stops working.

Choose a supported file, decide how long the link should remain available and use the access options shown for your account. The completed result can provide a direct file URL or share page based on the available output.
If the document or download needs to stay online indefinitely, use File to Link instead.
When the file is a PDF that people mainly need to open and review in a browser, the PDF to Link workflow is the more focused option.
Add access controls when needed
Expiry controls time, while visibility or password protection controls who should be able to open the link. Available options depend on the file and plan.
Send the file or a share page
A download button or another system may need the file address itself. When the link is going to a person instead, the share page gives them the filename and the available action before they continue. The selected expiry still applies to the temporary link, so normal access ends when that period runs out.
Remove the file before expiry
Guest uploads can start without an account. Keep the delete link shown after upload, or sign in to manage the file from the dashboard where those controls are available.

Expiry and privacy solve different problems
An expiry setting controls how long the file link remains active. Private access or access protected by a password controls who should be able to open it.
A public download that only needs to stay online for one week may only need an expiry setting. A confidential client document may need restricted access as well as a short expiry period.

Review a file before sharing its link
Review the file and remove private or unrelated material before sharing it. Document and media uploads are stored as provided and are not rewritten by the uploader.
The same caution still applies when the link has an expiry time. Expiry limits how long the URL remains active, but it cannot remove a copy someone already downloaded while the link was available.

How do I set up a temporary file link?
Upload a supported file and choose the expiry option shown in the uploader. Once the upload finishes, copy the available direct file URL or share page and send it to the recipient.
The link remains available until its expiry condition is reached.
What happens after a temporary file expires?
After the selected time runs out, opening that address no longer gives the recipient normal access to the file. The link moves to the current expired or unavailable state instead. Link expiry is separate from the platform's storage and removal process, so it should not be described as guaranteed deletion at that exact second.
Can I change the expiration date later?
Signed in owners can review the available link settings from the dashboard. Whether the expiry can be changed later depends on the file, workspace and current plan.
Is Temporary File Upload suitable for confidential documents?
Expiry can limit how long the link remains available, but it does not make the file private by itself. If the document is confidential, use private access or access protected by a password as well when those options are available for your account.
Can I create a temporary link for a document or ZIP archive?
Yes, when the file type is accepted by the current upload policy and fits your plan limits. ZIP archives are limited to 5 MB, and guest uploads keep the lower 2 MB limit. Upload the file, choose the expiry period and copy the available direct URL or share page after the upload finishes. Documents and ZIP archives are delivered as downloads.
Can someone keep a file after the temporary link expires?
If the recipient downloads the file while the link is active, expiry cannot remove the copy already saved on their device. The expiry setting only controls access through the Media2URL link after the selected condition is reached.
What are the guest limits for temporary file uploads?
Public guests can upload supported files up to 2 MB per file, with a maximum of 10 uploads per day across Media2URL website upload tools. Sign in for more uploads, or upgrade for larger files and higher limits.
